On Sunday night when Simon Cowell told Lucy Jones that she had no hope of winning the competition he was guilty of a cynical ploy to justify his following action – making sure she was ousted. Lucy is or was a threat to his contestants.
But he had another motive – he is desperate not to have another girl win the competition in 2009. A girl winning would threaten Leona and Alexandra’s positions in the charts. He could not stop Cheryl from taking advantage of the show to promote herself resulting in a No. 1 for her. In ousting Lucy he saw a chance to eliminate someone – a girl with a beautiful singing voice – who was a real threat. He has been trying to undermine Lucy all along. He said she sang a particular song ”…like an actress…’” What does that mean exactly? Does he know himself what he meant? Is he losing the plot? If one of the bottom two contestants had been other than Lucy John and Edward would have been despatched pronto.
John and Edward apparently drew more votes than Lucy. But it is obvious that Lucy has more talent in her little finger than John and Edward have in their whole hyperactive beings. The boys are entertaining, yes, visually. They can never be big recording stars so why did Simon keep them in, and he did, there is no doubt about that. He could have ousted them but it didn’t suit his purpose. I would hazard a guess they could have successful careers in staged musicals – all that jumping around!
Louis was hypocritical too. According to him the X-Factor is about entertainment. Next thing he states that they are looking for a pop star. X-Factor is of course entertainment, otherwise it would not be so popular, but that is not the show’s remit. The show’s judges are looking for an outstanding recording star – a singer – who will make them a lot of money. It is all about protecting their own interests.
If the rivalry between the judges is true – it is to the detriment of the contestants. And that is not fair. Simon must be careful not to underestimate the intelligence or sense of fairness of the viewers. They can make or break a show, as he knows full well. Simon must watch his step.

Why?
Am I missing something?
She’s tall.
She’s got got Sir Mick Jagger.
What else has she got that causes so much curiosity?
I wish someone would enlighten me.

Jerry Hall (51) is reported to have been paid one million for her autobiography describing her twenty-three years as the wife of the main man of the Rolling Stones, Sir Mick Jagger.
As the columist in the Dail Mail points out that might make Sir Mick just a bit nervous. But can Jerry tell us anything new that the sleaze-hungry media hasn’t already ferreted out?
These celebrity ‘tell-all’ autobiographies are really ten a penny and many of them flop. And the trouble is – once you’ve read one you’ve read them all.
Personally, I’ll give it a miss but I’ll bet my last dollar it will sell in its thousands.

Someone I really admire is esteemed novelist Doris Lessing who at 87 years of age has won the 2007 Nobel Prize for Literature.
Lessing’s career spans 57 years during which time she has produce some outstanding novels. Of course prize winning is nothing new to Lessing but I think the Nobel Prize must top the lot.
Good on yer, girl!
Sock it to ‘em, Doris!

I have had some harsh things to say about Kate Moss in the past – no, I am not going to take them back.
Maybe she is trying to redesign herself but everyone knows that old adage – the leopard can’t change his spots. A bleached barnet does not change what is under the hairdo.
At least she and Pete Dogherty are split. That is a plus in her favour. Now romance blooms with guitarist, Jamie Hince of The Kills. We’ll see what kind of an influence he is on her.
We’ll be watching, of course.

It is just over a year ago that I commented on Heather Mills’ dress sense – or lack of. The divorce between Heather and Sir Paul was in full battle cry then and still it drags on.
But our girl is remains full of fight – bless her. And one must admire her quick changes. Kicking high one minute in a TV Celebrity dance show then reduced to a wheelchair for the most recent divorce negotiations appearance. One has got to give it to her – she knows how to work the audience be it judges or judges!
A close friend said: ‘Heather feels she has this power over men…’ It is good to feel good about oneself – but let’s get real.
The friend also said that Heather’s struggle with Sir Paul in the divorce has not been all about money – but then goes on to say that Heather just wants to be free to ‘cash in’.
PS The Daily Mail Saturday 13th October 2007
A friend of Heather reports that she is ‘quietly confident’ of the outcome.
Oh well, maybe this time next year it will all be over.

Aunty Celeb is back commenting on Celebrity stories in her favourite daily newspaper – the Daily Mail.
Aunty Celeb is certain ‘celebrity’ is a disease which softens the brain – it is the only explanation.
We see celebrities of all sexes prancing about in the most horrendous ‘fashion’ outfits making spectacles of themselves or see them swapping lovers at the drop of – well, at a drop!
But then, why should the rest of us complain. It is so entertaining!

Well! I was led up the garden path! KM and PD did not really marry after all – just some kind of ‘togetherness’ ceremony? What’s the point of that? Oh! Of course! Silly me. All for publicity. As if they need more of that.
Marriage – I thought it was a bit too normal for that pair.
What next I wonder?

Most decent folk have been waiting to see Kate Moss get her just deserts and now it happened – she has married Pete Dogherty. I can’t think of two people who deserve each other more. The mind boggles!
But it’s a puzzle. Two people who flout convention at every turn embrace the oldest convention of all – marriage. Why? What’s in it for either of them? Could it have something to do with money?
Can’t wait for the divorce. It’ll be the messiest yet.
